The Fireflyers project explores the incredible bodies and movements of aerial performers as expressed through computationally driven digital mediums.
Design
This project is based on optical flow for tracking the bodies of aerial performers. The captured data are then used as input in a variety of computational algorithms and visualization techniques, trying to explore the effects of movement on "digital matter".
The project was developed during covid's 19 quarantine. Different aerial artists from all over the world were contacted and asked to participate in this research that aimed to explore a novel layer of their past performances that were captured on video.
